What is a binding code?
A binding code is an 8-digit random combination of letters and numbers that is used to bind imKey with imToken client/imKey Manager. This helps prevent unauthorized access to imKey. It is important to keep a backup of the binding code in case imKey needs to be re-bound in the future.
Note: If you encounter a situation where you need to unpair, log out of imToken, uninstall imToken, or change your phone, you will need to use the binding code to re-bind imKey.
How to view the binding code?
-
If imKey has not been bound yet, a binding code will be generated during the binding process. Make sure to keep a backup of it.
-
If imKey has already been bound, you can open the imToken app > "Me" > "Wallet Management" > "imKey Management" > "Binding Code" to view the code (you need to turn on Bluetooth on your phone and connect to imKey during the viewing process).
-
If you are unable to view the binding code and have not kept a backup, don't worry. As long as you have backed up your mnemonic phrase, you can generate a new binding code by resetting imKey with the following steps:
- Prepare the mnemonic phrase of your imKey hardware wallet.
- Reset imKey.
- Set the language and PIN code.
- Restore the wallet on imKey using the mnemonic phrase.
- Re-bind imToken client. During the binding process, imKey will generate a new binding code.
- Backup the new binding code.
